On Thursday, May 16th, the new documentary FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO will be screening at the Carolina Theater in Downtown Hickory at 7:00pm.
The documentary is filmmaker Daniel Karslake's follow-up to FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO which was shown in Hickory in February.
The film is described as "a powerful exploration of the intersection of religion, sexual orientation and gender identity in America. Heartfelt but painful, devastating yet hopeful, the film examines what it really means to be 'family'."
The film has shown at the Tribecca Film Festival, the Montclair Film Festival, and the QDocs Film Festival in Portland, OR. The Hickory screening would be the fourth public screening of the film.
The director/producer, Daniel Karslake, will be in attendance for the screening on May 16th and will take part in a question-and-answer session with Mitchell Gold immediately following the film.
Tickets for the event are $5.00 at the theater the night of the screening. As this is not an official film society membership event, the event is open to the public and all attendees would require a paid ticket.
Ticket proceeds from the evening will be donated to OUTright Youth of Catawba Valley, an organization that provides a unique, youth-centered, safe environment for LGBTQ youth and their allies. Learn more about this organization at www.outrightyouthcv.com.
Please help us in thanking Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams for supporting this special film screening and joining us for the discussion afterwards!
