Classics at the Drendel: CASABLANCA

The Footcandle Film Society continues it's "Classics at the Drendel" series, highlighting the American Film Institute's top films of all time, with CASABLANCA (1942) on Sunday, March 31st at 2:00pm at the Drendel Auditorium at the SALT Block.

After the screening there will be an in-depth discussion of the film, notes about the film's production and an understanding of its place in film history.

About the film: The story of Rick Blaine, a cynical world-weary ex-patriate who runs a nightclub in Casablanca, Morocco during the early stages of WWII. Despite the pressure he constantly receives from the local authorities, Rick's cafe has become a kind of haven for refugees seeking to obtain illicit letters that will help them escape to America. But when Ilsa, a former lover of Rick's, and her husband, show up to his cafe one day, Rick faces a tough challenge which will bring up unforeseen complications, heartbreak and ultimately an excruciating decision to make.

Tickets are $5.00 for everyone and can be purchased at the event with cash or credit/debit cards.  (Please note: This film series is not included as part of regular Footcandle membership so members would still need to purchase tickets.)
